Agnes Witt

De Witt, Agnes St. Charles, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Union Court Assisted Living, Saint Charles. She was 94 years old. Agnes Minkina was born on February 5, 1924 in Swan Creek Twp., MI to the late Victor and Victoria (Wazenda) Minkina. Agnes worked at the gun plant during the summer and then attended Central Michigan University. She taught school in Stanwood and Oakley for a few years. She married James S. De Witt on December 22, 1945 in St. Charles. Agnes and Jim raised their family in Saginaw. In later years, she worked for a law firm in Saginaw. Agnes enjoyed being outdoors in nature. She is survived by her son, Charles T. (Marcia) De Witt of Saginaw; daughter, Louise E. (Vic) Porterfield of St. Charles; grandchildren: Carson Porterfield, Lila Ecker, Stephanie (Pat Pillars) Mendel and Kyle (Emily) Clayton; great-grandchildren: Vincent and Caleb Ecker, Julian, Cam and Simon Pillars, Brynn and Evynn Rhode and Merynn Clayton. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, James on June 15, 1994; four brothers: Carl, Victor Jr., Rudolph and Eric Minkina. Agnes' family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Union Court Assisted Living and her caregiver, Marilyn. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Agnes will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Burial to follow at Garfield Cemetery in Swan Creek Township. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
