Vazquez, Cruz Delia "Crucita" Saginaw, Michigan formerly of Chicago, IL Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 23, 2018. She was 82 years old. Cruz Delia Vazquez was born on September 30, 1935 in Cidras, Puerto Rico to the late Evangelio and Juana (Ortiz) Vazquez. In 1950, Crucita moved to New York City with her family and she married Angel Luis Betancourt. From New York, Crucita and Angel moved to Chicago and she raised her four children. While in Chicago in 1953, she accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and became an active member of the Rock of my Salvation congregation. Crucita loved to dance Salsa, spend time with family and cook for those she loved. She is survived by her children: David Betancourt, John (Carmen) Betancourt and Sandra D. Martinez; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and her sister, Jenny Vazquez. Crucita was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Angel; son, Angel Luis Betancourt, Jr.; son-in-law: David Martinez; and her five siblings. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Crucita will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Minister Rachel Salas will officiate with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
