Nickel, Joan Kay St. Charles, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was 66 years old. Joan Kay Kennedy was born on February 13, 1952 in Saginaw to the late William J. and Shirley (Riedel) Kennedy. Joan married her high school sweetheart, Michael A. Nickel, on July 25, 1970 and they celebrated 48 wonderful years together. Joan worked at Catholic Federal for over 15 years in the IT Department. She loved to sew, craft, garden, read and cherish special memories with her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her husband, Mike; children: Jason (Carmen) Nickel, Todd (Brandy) Nickel, Kelly (Shannon) Guilbeaux and Lecia Patterson; grandchildren: Jacob, Jarod, Alayna and Gerrit Nickel; Natalie and Amelia Nickel; Alexis Nickel, Payton and Alivia Guilbeaux; and sister, Ruth Simons. Joan will also be dearly remembered by many extended family and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Kennedy. SERVICE: Family and friends will gather to celebrate Joan's life at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastoral Associate, Sharon Wahl will officiate. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the American Cancer Society. I'm so sorry to hear of Joan's passing. I knew her from Catholic Federal. I remember her as always being so upbeat and cheerful. My condolences to her family. My prayers are with you all.
