Ruben Mathis

Mathis, Ruben "Leo" of Carrollton, Michigan passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Convenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 77 years old. Ruben Mathis was born on August 16, 1940 in Alabama to the late Ruben and Elma (Lovejoy) Mathis. Ruben loved taking care of the sick and the elderly; he helped many, many people. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with mechanics and repairing just about anything around the house, being outside, and gardening. He will be remembered for being a man of character, upstanding and for his unconditional love. Surviving are a loving companion, dear friend, Johnnie A. Wilkerson; three loving children: Evelyn Mathis Atkins, Kimberly Mathis, and Leo Mathis; and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jonas Mathis. Per Ruben's request, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).
