Schaeffer, Marjorie Anne "Margie" of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away at Covenant HeathCare - Harrison on Monday, May 14, 2018. She was 96 years old. Marjorie Anne McMullen was born on January 8, 1922 in Saginaw to the late George E. and Lillian (Bellinger) McMullen. She attended St. Andrew School and graduated in 1939. Margie married Joseph W. Schaeffer in 1946; he preceded her in death on August 18, 1992. She worked at Michigan Bell, now AT&T, retiring after 20 years. Margie was a loyal member of and enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary Cathedral and the St. Mary's Hospital for 25 years. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion, and also a member of the Telephone Pioneer Women and the League of Catholic Women. In her spare time, she was a proud 25-year mall walker and had a special fondness for Notre Dame. She will be remembered for being a wonderful mother and grandmother, her positive attitude, joyful heart, and her strong faith in God. Margie was always able to find the best in people and the situation and was beautiful inside and out. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons and daughter, Wayne (Cathleen) Schaeffer of Fenton, James (Holly) Schaeffer of Midland, Joseph (Carolyn) Schaeffer of DePere, WI, and Patricia Chronowski, Apple Valley, MN; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with one on the way; and two sisters: Jeanne Anne (Richard) Pettenger and Mary Katherine (Ron) Haeger. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, Joseph; brother, George (Marie) McMullen; and son-in-law, Richard Chronowski. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Thomas J. McNamara will officiate. Private Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. At Margie's request, cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Family and friends are invited to gather at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption in Saginaw. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). I always remember meeting Margie for the first time I thought my friend has a beautiful mom inside and out. She had a great sense of style and always had the cutest outfits. Most of all I admired her faith, she was very devote and unwavering . Her smile was unforgettable as was her zest for life. Prayers for my dear friend Patti and her brothers Jim , Wayne and Joe and their families.

Margie was a beautiful lady. My mom (Ginny Rudy) and Margie were best of friends when they were both at Swanhaven. They would get together for their Sunday Happy Hour and laugh and reminisce. Margie was my moms sidekick. They always watched out for each other. Margie helped my mom out so much . What a great gal she was. Margie could out run just about everyone at Swanhaven. She was always walking to get her daily exercise. Hopefully she has found my mom up in heaven and they are celebrating with their bottle of Rum Chata! May you Rest In Peace Margie.

Margie was our mothers best friend. . .they had so many laughs and good times together, all the way back to good old St. Andrews, and through the passing of their husbands Joe and Jerry. Margie was always like family to the Kwaisers. Her contagious smile, her strong faith, and her love and sisterlike bonding and love for our mother Marg,will never be forgotten. I always new I could talk to Margie during an ND game cuz we shared our passion for ND FOOTBALL. I speak for all of our mothers family. .Jerry Jr. that's me. My brothers James,Richard,Linda. and their families cuz we all shared our love and respect for Margie.God bless the soul of Margie Schaeffer,and God Bless her family who she talked about soooo often expressing her love for them.
