Irene Evon

Evon, Irene H. Thomas Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Shield Comfort Care. She was 86 years old. Irene Helen Susalski was born March 13, 1932 in Saginaw to the late Joseph and Marie (Nowaczyk) Susalski. Irene graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1950. Following high school she worked for Spence Brothers, and met the love of her life, Thomas M. Evon, at a polka dance. Tom and Irene were married on August 6, 1955 in Saginaw, together they celebrated 62 years together. Irene enjoyed raising her family of seven children, and then retired from Meijer in 1992. Irene was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She loved to play bingo, and crotchet blankets that she would donate to different charities with the Saginaw Community. Irene is survived by her husband, Thomas M. Evon; children: Michael (Marla) Evon, Diane Gagen, Steven (Monica) Evon, Thomas Michael Evon, Paul S. Evon, Tim (Michelle) Evon and Robert (Carmel) Evon; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Beverly and Judy Susalski. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Richard and Robert Susalski. FUNERAL: According to Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspney will officiate. Private burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
