Obituary
VITEK, Jerry Rae Saginaw Twp., Michigan Jerry Rae passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 26, 2018. She was 80 years old. Jerry Rae Donnenwerth was born on September 17, 1937 in Saginaw to the late Rae and Lila (Mack) Donnenwerth. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1955. Following graduation she attended Ferris State University, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Fashion, Design and Retail Management. Jerry Rae worked for Winkelmen's, Jacobson's, Albert's, Carter Management, and enjoyed interior design. She was a faithful member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, serving on the church board. She was an active member of Seniors helping Seniors and enjoyed volunteering with the Underground Railroad. Jerry Rae loved to travel, visiting: Hawaii, Mexico, Florida and the beach. She also enjoyed listening to music, swimming, diving, drawing and spending time with her grandchildren. Jerry Rae is survived by her husband, Harry R. Vitek; daughter, Debra Lee Gardner; grandchildren: Lisa Gardner, Lori Gardner and Lexi Gardner; step-daughter, Kristina Gunderson; step-grandchildren: Jordin Gunderson and Masen Gunderson; a dear cousin who was like a brother to her: Grant Mack (Bonnie) Thormeier. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Jerry Rae will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 2525 Hemmeter Rd., Saginaw MI 48603. Rev. Rob Schmidt will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation in Jerry Rae's memory to Our Saviour Lutheran Church. I have many fond memories of this wonderful, friendly, and beautiful lady, who was the mother of the young girl I dated, oh so long ago. There were New Year's eve parties at my parent's house, and a piano sing-along at Tosi's. I shared many well-cooked meals, and evenings at the Vitek home in St. Joe, MI, but when the kitchen timer went off at the end of the evening, I knew it was time to go home. Jerry was a real trooper. She hard working, dedicated, and a great gal. I have thought about her often and fondly since we closed the stores. Best to the family. She will be missed

When we lived in Saginaw we would often see you and Jerry.
She was always warm and friendly...telling us to come and visit.
For many years your parents lived across from us on Midway Harry. In 2015 we moved to Adrian .
