Brown, Howard Michael Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. He was 86 years old. Howard Michael Brown was born on September 23, 1931 in Detroit to the late Howard M. and Ella Margaret (Weatherly) Brown. Howard attended Eastern High School and St. Lawrence Seminary, St. Felix Seminary and St. John Provincial Seminary. He was ordained in 1959 and served as a priest for 12 years in the Saginaw Diocese including assignments as assistant or pastor at Sacred Heart Parish, Saginaw, St. Mary's Cathedral, Saginaw, Sacred Heart Parish, Birch Run, Sacred Heart Parish, Kawkawlin, St. Edward Parish, Omer and St. Mark, Au Gres. Howard was also the Director of Communication for the Saginaw Diocese and coordinated the weekly televised Mass with Channel 5. He served as the Director of the Mexican Apostolate for the diocese. Howard had a pilot's license. He then furthered his education at Central Michigan University, Saginaw Valley State University and the University of Michigan earning both his Master's Degree and Doctorate in Psychology. Howard then taught school and became a school psychologist with the Saginaw Township School District for 25 years, retiring in 1997. Howard was an avid reader and loved to travel visiting Mexico, Rome, Italy and many other parts of the world. Howard will be deeply missed by his daughter, Ashley Lynette Brown; two grandchildren: Benjamin and Skylar Brown; and his dear friend, Clara Bremer. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Yongsook (Kim) Brown. FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Fr. Chuck Howley will officiate. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, March 17 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dearest Howard my family and I wanted to send our deepest symapthy. I wanted to share a comforting thought found in God's word at Isaiah 25 verse 8 where it says in part that death will be swallowed up forever. I hope that this text brings your family comfort as it did mine.

So very sadden by the loss of a truly beautiful person and dear life-long friend since our days at Eastern High School in Detroit...you were the epitome of a true friend to the end and will surely be missed by many; rest in eternal peace!

To the Brown Ohana,
Like my mother, Peg Butler, I was saddened to hear of Howard's death-or as I grew up calling him, Uncle Howard. I still vividly remember attending his ordination in 1959, even though I was just a preschooler then. I also remember many visits during my childhood - he was always so friendly and so much fun. The last time I saw him must have been in the early 1970s, but I'll never forget what a kind and generous man he was and what a dear friend he was to my parents and family all their lives. He and my dad, Bob, were friends from their grammar school days and I heard many stories of their boyhood exploits. My dad was the youngest of six children and Howard an only child, and they used to hang out at each others' houses all the time - they were like brothers.
Please know you have my deepest condolences on what I'm sure is a great loss to you.
