Obituary
Schlicker, Lyle Richard Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully on December 26, 2017 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 63 years old. Lyle Richard Schlicker was born on April 7, 1954 in Bay City to the late John R. and Margaret C. (Lederer) Schlicker. He graduated from Freeland High School in 1972 and attended college at Northern Michigan University. Lyle worked for Detroit Ball Bearing in Saginaw, retiring from Applied Industrial Technologies in 2002. Since then, he has enjoyed working as a lunchroom and playground monitor for both St. Stephen and Novel Catholic Central Elementary Schools. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monitor and a member and past trustee of the Eagles Club. Lyle loved reading, polka music and dancing. He spent summers camping and going to festivals. He enjoyed cooking and hosting holiday gatherings for his family. Lyle's tender heart and love for animals was seen in his care for Sammy, Emma, Rosie, and Sophie. Lyle's sense of humor and joy for life will be deeply missed by his sister, Kathy (James) Gunther; brother-in-law, Ronald Kohn; nieces and nephews: Pari (Mark) Sitarski, Christopher (Julie) Gunther, Angi (Greg) Reno, and John (Sarah) Kohn; eight great nieces and great nephews; three great-great nieces; his life-long friend, Robert Parker; and two spoiled, furry companions, Sophie and Charlie. His generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand will be missed by all of those lives he has touched. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald (Kathleen) Schlicker; and his sister, Margo Kohn. MEMORIAL SERVICE: According to Lyle's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Rob Schmidt will officiate. Private burial of Lyle's cremated remains will be held at Home Cemetery, Monitor Township, Bay City. VISITATION: The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. I met Lyle at St. Stephen School. He worked in the kitchen, and as a staff person, I often visited for lunch. He was so kind to talk to. May the angels welcome him to paradise.

I met Lyle as a freshman at NMU, he mentioned he was from Freeland, me from Saginaw. He said he kept a car off campus and would let me know when he was headed home for a weekend. A friendship began! His generous heart, warm smile was what made him so special. We ran into each other over the years, here and there. I worked at the hospital and many times saw him there. Most recently Facebook. We both had a love for dogs and often shared their antics! Heaven has gained a very special angel! My deepest sympathy to his family and friends, Rest In Peace Lyle, you will be missed!
