Dale Spyker

Spyker, Dale Wesley of Hemlock, Michigan, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 with his family by his side on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Dale was born on June 22, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Harold and Beulah (Wehner) Spyker. He was a 1948 graduate of Saginaw High School. Dale proudly served his country as a corporal in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War with the 51st Signal Batallion. He married the love of his life, Donna Lou Jacob, on June 14, 1958 in Saginaw, who survives him. Dale was employed as a Business Agent for the Teamsters Local #486. He loved deer hunting, making wine, and helping people in need. Above all, Dale loved and cherished his family and will forever be remembered for his generosity and kind heart. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Donna; two daughters: Julie Jurek of Saginaw and Jo Ellen (Paul) Neitzel of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren: Jason Jurek, Jared Jurek, Emily Neitzel, Lindsey Neitzel and Eric Neitzel; and two sisters: Glois Symon of Saginaw and Geraldine "Geri" Mihalik of Manistee. Dale was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Jacob Spyker; a sister, Carmon Fritzler and a brother, Stewart Spyker. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Rob Richard will officiate. Private burial and Military Honors will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Army. VISITATION: The family will welcome visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of the donor's choice or the wishes of the family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Cartwright Hospice Residence for the love and care they provided in his final days.
