Henry Zissler

Zissler, Henry J., Sr. "Hank" of Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland. He was 81 years old. Henry John Zissler was born on April 2, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Sanford C. and Estella N. (Barst) Zissler. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, serving from January 27, 1954 to November 14, 1956. He worked as a laborer with the City of Saginaw and later worked and retired from General Motors. He was a member of American Legion Post #22, VFW Post #1859 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Carrollton. He was an avid watcher of the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions and the University of Michigan football. Hank loved spending time with his dog, Buddy, fishing with his family and friends on Lake Michigan, and sitting on his front porch with a beer and taking in the world around him. He was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and grand dogs. Surviving are one daughter and two sons: Jennifer (Tim) Krieger, Henry (Andrea) Zissler and Eric (Heather) Zissler; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers and one sister, Gary Zissler of Saginaw, Robert Zissler of Saginaw, Gerald "Butch" (Nancy) Zissler of Muskegon and Gail (Les) Appold of Bay City; one sister-in-law Susie Zissler of Saginaw; his beloved dog, Buddy and grand dogs: Sasha and Zeus. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Zissler; and a former spouse, Rosemary "Rosie" Zissler. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post #439. Honoring Hank's wishes cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends and family are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
