Cheri Meyer

Our loving mother and sister passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at HealthSource of Saginaw. She was 68 years old. Cheri Dawn Colby was born on September 20, 1948 in Saginaw, MI to the late Francis George and Frances Irene (Lakomy) Colby. Cheri was a lifelong resident of Saginaw and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1966. She married Frederick Michael Meyer on September 16, 1967. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2016. Cheri was one of a kind. She accomplished so many unique experiences in her life time. She played volleyball, learned to play the bagpipes, she took fencing classes, owned Wordsworth Bookstore on Gratiot, she spent many years as a massage therapist at Head Liner Salon. Cheri also loved to garden, read, go antiquing, worked tirelessly researching her family's heritage, and has created numerous afghans for her family to enjoy. She simply enjoyed her family. Life will not be the same without her. She is survived by her daughters: Heather (Mark Allen) Looman and Mindi Meyer; grandchildren: Chloe Frances, Phoebe Louise and Elly Grace Looman and Maggi Dawn Wilson; sister, Marilyn Eddy; brother, Bradley Francis Colby; three nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and step-father, Harold Ted Shauger. SERVICE: Cheri's family and friends will gather to share stories and memories at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made in Cheri's memory to the Read Program.
