Shuler, Donald L. Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home. He was 74 years old. Donald L. Shuler was born on May 6, 1943 in Saginaw to the late Charles A. and Catherine (Gunderman) Shuler. He married EveLynn Praschan August 17, 1963 in Saginaw. He is survived by his wife, EveLynn; children: Mark (Beth) Shuler, Matthew (Karen) Shuler and Nicole Abenth; grandchildren: Caleigh Shuler and Emilee (Luke) Dankert, Catherine "Megan" Shuler and Alyssa Shuler, JaydeLynn Abenth and Elijah Abenth; siblings: Norma Herweyer, Clara (William) Vlassis, Walter Shuler, Richard (Vicky) Shuler, Betty (Don) Tucker, his twin sister, Donna Shelenhamer; his best friend, Larry Slaybaugh; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Don was preceded in death by his step-mother, Helen (Weber) Shuler and his dear friend and fishing buddy, Nick Wressell. Don was a founding member of the Saginaw Unity Club, a member of the Saginaw Gun Club, a Member of the Moose Lodge #82, and loved attending their church Hopevale in Saginaw Township. Don was in the banking industry for 30+ years and had been enjoying retirement for the last 13. He loved to hunt with his dog Flagg, fish and spend as much time as possible with his dogs and at their trailer at River Valley RV Park. Don loved God, his family and his Country. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A service to celebrate Don's life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Hopevale Church, 4873 North Center Rd. (Corner of North Center and Tittabawassee Roads), Saginaw. Pastor Adam Harbaugh will officiate and Pastor Ken MacGillivray will assist. The family will visit with guests on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saginaw Unity Club. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Remembering Don as a personal friend brings many fond memories of fishing and hunting, especially on Jenkins Lake. Our hunting trip to Wyoming for pronghorn sheep was a wonderful trip too. Don will be missed by all who knew him and especially me. Walt Rathkamp

My sympathy goes out to Eve and the Shuler family. Don, better known as Butch to me, was my neighbor on Cass Street. The Shuler family holds a special place in my heart, as I have many happy memories of our childhood in the early years. Bootsie, Donna, was my best friend until we reached our teen years and the family moved away. Don was a really nice person and I'm sure he left special memories for his many friends and family.
