Nancy Strieter

Strieter, Nancy J., of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her home, with her son and daughter by her side. She was 86 years old. Nancy Joyce Bremer was born on September 20, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the only child to the late Howard and Byrnaden (Friedman) Bremer. She married Leland J. Strieter on August 20, 1949; he preceded her in death on August 18, 2005 after 56 years together. She attended Arthur Hill High School and graduated with the Class of 1948. Nancy was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church. Nancy was an expert quilter, knitter, and embroiderer; she won at the county fair, and also top prize at the state fair. Nancy volunteered for many years at the Bethesda Thrift Shop. Nancy is survived by one daughter and two sons: Lynne (Victor Wacholder) Strieter of North Miami FL, Lee Strieter of Saginaw MI, and Paul (Solange) Strieter of Orlando FL; three grandchildren: Cynthia (Jeff) Barrett, Jessica Strieter, Johnpaul Strieter; and two great-grandsons: Samuel and Anthony Barrett. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Southern Care Hospice for the loving care they gave to Nancy. FUNERAL: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. Rev. Bert Eggers will officiate. Cremation has taken place. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or Peace Lutheran Church.
