Obituary

Sanchez, Jesse Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017, with his family by his side at the Medilodge of Frankenmuth. He was 87 years. Jesse Sanchez, Jr., was born May 30, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Jesus and Amelia (Camacho) Sanchez. He proudly served his country in the United States Army stationed in both Panama and Korea. Jesse married Thelma Craft on December 24, 1964; she survives him. He was employed by and retired from General Motors - Malleable Iron. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church, serving as an usher. Jesse was also a member of the American GI Forum and the U.A.W. Local 455. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Thelma Sanchez; three brothers and three sisters: Manuel Sanchez, Joseph (Melissa) Sanchez, David (Mickey) Sanchez, Dolores Fehring, and Gloria Gonzalez; two sisters-in-law: Elena and Janie Sanchez; a former sister-in-law, Joyce Joslin; five step-grandchildren: Chris, Jeff, Bobby, Jamie and Julie; and a Goddaughter, Amelia Palomarez. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Ramon and Daniel Sanchez; and two infant brothers; two brothers-in-law: Robert Gonzalez and Carl Fehring; two sisters-in-law: Sandra Sanchez and Gloria Sanchez; niece, Terry Azar; and nephews, Ramon Sanchez and Michael Sanchez. Gloria would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Grace Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Jesse. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony Catholic Church, 3680 S. Washington Road. Rev. Fr. Thomas Schmied, OFMCap will officiate. Military Honors and Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Army and the American GI Forum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Grace Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. I got to know Jesse over the past several monthes as his hospice aide. He was a really great guy and I will miss him.
