Donald Kross

Kross, Donald "Don" of Freeland, Michigan Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away on July 1, 2017 at the age of 82. Don was born on August 24, 1934 to the late Fred and Catherine (Fahnanstiel) Kross in Saginaw. On November 11, 1966 he married Joyce (Shotwell) Baldwin. They were blessed with over 50 years of marriage. Together they owned and operated Kross Fabrics and Blinds in Bay City until his retirement in 1997. Don was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Freeland. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce J. Kross of Freeland; three daughters, one son and three step sons: Karen (Martin) Blenkhorn of Pickford, Katherine (James) Casey of Bay City, Beth (Kevin) Burger of West Branch, Donald C. (Connie) Kross of Holland, Gregg (Debra) Baldwin of Manhattan, IL, Jeffrey Baldwin of Thornton, CO, and Jay (Kendi) Baldwin of Saginaw Township; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Dale (Phyllis) Shotwell of Bay City. Also surviving are many cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Kross. The family wishes to thank the Cartwright Center for all their loving and compassionate care. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Robert Schmidt will officiate with committal following in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: The family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Zion Lutheran Church - Freeland or American Cancer Society - Northeast Michigan Office.
