Rocco Gianvecchio

Gianvecchio, Rocco J. "Roccy" Saginaw Twp., Michigan Passed away peacefully at Samaritas Senior Living of Saginaw on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old. Rocco J. Gianvecchio was born on November 19, 1934 in Saginaw, MI to the late Vito and Frances (Lofaro) Gianvecchio. Roccy graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School and then served his country proudly with the US Army. He married the love of his life, Marlene K. Thompson October 22, 1973. Roccy and Marlene resided in Saginaw all of their life. He was the proud owner of Roccy's Shattuck Market, retiring in the early 90's. Roccy loved to support the Saginaw Community by actively participating with the Sons of Italy; he served two terms as President. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Nouvel Council #4232. Roccy's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed trips to the casino, golfing, traveling and spending winters in Palm Springs, CA. Roccy is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; daughters: Sheila (Michael) Arnold and Kellie (Guy) Picard; five grandchildren: Chad (Amy) Arnold, Nicholas (Laura Mitchell) Arnold, Taylor Picard, Paige Picard and Peyton Picard; four great grandchildren: Brayden, Connor, Emersyn and Jackson; sister, Toni (John) Conversa; two nieces and a nephew; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23 , 2017 at St. Dominic Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn St. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Military honors will be held following the funeral Mass at the church under the auspices of the United States Army. According to Roccy's wishes cremation will follow the funeral liturgy. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Thursday at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed by the Knights of Columbus Council #4232 at 3:30 p.m. Roccy will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
