Gilberto Huerta

Huerta, Gilberto D. of Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Covenant Healthcare - Harrison. He was 70 years old. Gilberto DeLeon Huerta was born on May 27, 1947 in Harlingen, Texas to Cesario and Maria Dora (DeLeon) Huerta. Gilberto graduated from Buena Vista High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. He served in Vietnam War to rank of SP4 Artillery from 1968 to 1969. Gilberto was employed by General Motors for 30 years, retiring October 1, 1996. He was a member of Old Town Christian Outreach Center. Gilberto was an active volunteer at the Total Life Center. He also answered phones at TCT and prayed for those who called in asking for prayer. Gilberto enjoyed shopping at area stores and garage sales, listening to music, going on road trips, reading the Bible, relaxing in his yard out in the sun and walking. Above all, he truly loved spending time with his family. Surviving are five children: Sean Reyes of Midland, Christopher Colmus of Saginaw, Miriam (Justin) Curtis of Saginaw, James Huerta of Saginaw and Mercedes (Sean) McGowan of Saginaw; one grandson, Santiago Huerta of Saginaw; two granddogs: Rebel and Lulu; parents, Cesario and Maria Dora Huerta of Saginaw; two brothers and four sisters: Dora (Robert) Ruiz of Burt, Rosa Martinez of Saginaw, Maria Y. Alvear of Grand Prairie, Texas, Daniel (Gilda) Huerta of Saginaw, Eddie (Carol) Huerta of Killeen, Texas and Diane Regalado of Saginaw; a sister-in-law, Maria A. "Toni" Huerta of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends. Gilberto was preceded in death by a former spouse, Ruth B. (Rodriguez) Huerta; a brother, Cesario Huerta, Jr.; his grandparents, Teodoro and Gregoria (Villarreal) DeLeon; an uncle, Teodoro DeLeon, Jr.; an aunt, Ameli D. Ybarra; and best friend Samson S. Ceja. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State St). Pastor Don Dinninger will officiate. Burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly Michigan. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
