Raymond Brass

BRASS, Raymond F. of Saginaw Township, Michigan passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017. He was 94 years old. Raymond Fields Brass was born on March 1, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Fields W. and Helen M. (Ahrens) Brass. He married Dorothy L. Grams on June 4, 1949; after 41 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on November 10, 1990. Ray graduated from Saginaw High School with the Class of 1941. He then served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1946, receiving the Bronze Star. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the Chessie System Railroad as a Signal Inspector for 37 years until his retirement in 1985. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and golfing and spending time with his family. Surviving are two sons: Gregory F. (Christine) of Saginaw and Mark R. (Rhonda Nichols) of St. Augustine, FL; daughter, Karen (Timothy) Giacoletti of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren: Kelli M. (Donald) Kolka, Danielle M. (Adam) Giacoletti-Starnes, and Nicholas Giacoletti; and three great-grandchildren: Aralynn Kolka, Aidan Penley, and Tommy Giacoletti. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Christine. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Cremation will follow. Rev. Rob Schmidt will officiate. A private entombment will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery at a later date. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
