Daniel G. Johnson

Johnson, Daniel Roy Garnett "Dan" of James Township, Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison, with his family by his side. He was 69 years old. Dan was born on August 11, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Raymond and Phyllis (Peterson) Johnson. He married Mary Ellen Meir on December 29, 1994 in Saginaw. Dan proudly served his country in the United State Army during Vietnam, serving as part of the First Air Cavalry Division. He was a master mechanic for many years and enjoyed wood working and hunting. Surviving are his beloved wife of 22 years, Mary Johnson of Saginaw; four children: Darlene (Bart) Johnson, Daniel (Darlene) Johnson, Sarah (Robert) Andrews, and Michael Johnson; four grandchildren: Kang Johnson, Sasha Johnson, Sitera Johnson and Tyler Johnson; seven great grandchildren; two sisters Sharon and Raelynn; and his cherished dogs, Molly and Teddy. FUNERAL: Dan's Funeral Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Robert Byrne will officiate. Military Honors and Rite of Committal will follow on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. under the auspices of the Veterans Alliance at Holy Family Cemetery in West Branch, Michigan. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wounded Warrior Project.
