Obery Lewis

Obery Della Lewis of Saginaw, Michigan fell asleep in death on May 13, 2017 at the age of 58. She was born in Wabash, Arkansas to Viola, who preceded her in death, and Jesse Nelson. She is the youngest of seven children. She is survived by her five sisters and one brother: Emma (Banks) Morris, Clara Williams, Doris (John) Stammers, Jessie (Johnnie) Griffin, Maxine (Rickey) Pippins, and Sterling Nelson. In 1967, when she was 8 years old, Della moved with her family from Helena, Arkansas to Saginaw, Michigan. For the past 38 years, she faithfully served her God, Jehovah, as one of his Witnesses. She attended the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed sharing her faith and hope with her neighbors. Della had many talents, she received professional training in the art of cosmetology, and she also had developed a gift for preparing food and baking. She was a truly kind and caring person which was evident in how she treated others. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Chevvonne (Timothy) Maxie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends in faith whom she loved dearly. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Al Harrell will officiate. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
