Smith, Gerald R. Sr. "Jerry" Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017 at HealthSource-Saginaw. He was 82 years old. Gerald Raymond Smith was born on June 18, 1934 in Bridgeport, Michigan to the late Frank and Helen (Techentien) Smith. He graduated from Saginaw High School and then was drafted into the US Army, where he proudly served his country. When Jerry returned home he married the love of his life, Emma Jean Pryor on March 20, 1959. She survives him. Jerry retired from General Motors in 1992 after 37.5 years. He loved to bowl, camp and fish and enjoy an occasional game of golf. Jerry's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and friends. Jerry is survived by his wife, Emma; children: Gerald Jr. (Brenda) Smith, Michael Smith, Timothy (Kathy) Smith and Kellie (Charles) Bell; grandchildren: Gerald R. Smith III, Kassie (Shane) Bauer, Kayme (Rick) Napora, Kyle Smith, Tabyas Smith and Jessica Bell; 15 great grandchildren; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Timothy Smith; sister, Mary North; brothers: Robert Smith, James Smith and Richard Smith. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Jerry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Burial and military honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army and V.F.W. Post #1859 will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m.; and on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
