Obituary
Welsh, Thomas L. "Tom" of Saginaw Township, passed away peacefully at his home, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was 69 years old. Thomas L. Welsh was born on July 21, 1947 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John and Elaine (Frey) Welsh. Tom proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United State Army from 1966 to 1968. He married the love of his life, Helen L. Freeman on January 17, 1970 in Saginaw; she survives him. Tom loved washing and waxing his vehicles and was an avid hunter. Above all, Tom loved and cherished his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Helen Welsh of Saginaw; two sons: Mathew T. Welsh of Saginaw and Brian M. Welsh of Saginaw; five grandchildren: Andrew, Austin, Hannah, Alexander and Madison; one great-granddaughter: Kaiya; one brother, Richard; and three sisters: Mary, Christine and Nancy (Scott) Leaym. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces and nephews. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Edwin C. Dwyer will officiate. Military Honors and burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Army and VFW Post #1859. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Welsh Family c/o Helen Welsh. I worked with Tom for over 20 years at the apartment complex. He was a great worker and more importantly , he was somebody you always could talk to or listen to or even hear a funny story. I miss the "good ol' days" of him and the crew. Rest peacefully, your friend Jeff
