Dice, Elizabeth Bennett "Betsy" Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at St. Mary's of Michigan with her family by her side. She was 69 years old. Elizabeth Bennett Wainwright was born on January 9, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John and Ellen (Feavyear) Wainwright. Betsy was a 1966 graduate of Saginaw High School. She was also a proud graduate of Michigan State University. She married the love of her life, Ronald Paul Dice on October 8, 1977; he preceded her in death on October 29, 2015. She was employed by Saginaw Bay Underwriters as an insurance agent, retiring after 25 years of service. Betsy was an avid sports fan, it didn't matter the sport, and she always cheered for Michigan State. Above all, Betsy loved and cherished her children and grandchildren. Surviving are two sons: Michael Dice and his significant other, Amanda Hodder of Saginaw and Steven (August) Dice of Bay City; one daughter, Sharon Hite of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren: Jack Paul Dice, Joseph Stephen Dice, Krista Rase and Cathy Davis; three step grandchildren: Devon, Kevin and Nichollas Keehn; four brothers and one sister: John (Christie) Wainwright, Robert (Kathy Kickham) Wainwright, Thomas (Margaret) Wainwright, Peter Wainwright, and Ellen Wainwright. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Lee Austin will officiate. Honoring Betsy's wishes cremation will follow. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Hey guys. little sis, Ellen here with a short story. Pete and I, due to phone issues got news of Betsy the day after she passed. I had been having trouble sleeping last week because of a Dog two streets down. It was a terrible howl. I thought surely he was being abused, so I went over to the house to see for myself. When I got to the house I saw this beautiful white pit bull, maybe a year old or so. He was shivering and very sad looking but looked like he was eating ok. Just pitifully lonely. Then the next door lady told me the owner won't let anyone give any attention to the Dog because he is about to train the dog for fighting. I was just sick to my stomach. He was tied up with a awful chain and had been literally choking himself. We called animal control but they said they could not do anything. A lot more to this story but here is the part where Betsy came in.
The morning I heard about Betsy was the day after I saw the dog. I had to run to the store for ciggs and on my way I said a prayer to Betsy. " Hey sis, I bet you got a few tricks up your sleave now that your up their in heaven right! How about you get that dog out of that horrrible chain-pit they have him in. Just sayen if its something you can manage up there" When I got back from the store Pete was in the driveway, he did not know about my prayer but he did know about the dog of course. He said a big white dog had just trotted on by about fifteen minutes ago. He described the dog pretty well with the big feet and long legs. Thanks Sis.

We knew Betsy through her work with SBU and Bob Sidney for the Midland Cogeneration Venture. Betsy was the best!! She became fast friends with Bruce Grant (a fellow MSU grad) and myself back in 1993. Many, many times we don't know what we would have done without her knowledge and guidance with our many insurance problems. Jim and i were both saddened and shocked to hear off Betsy's passing.
Betsy and I grew up together in Indiantown as girlfiends.
So many wonderful memories that will be with me forever.
i will always remember Betsy as a Beautiful and Loving person.

My memories are mostly from 50 plus years ago and the three years Betsy was at Saginaw High. We were often in the same classes, and every time I think of Betsy it is her kindness, intelligence, smile, sense of humor, and warmth that shine through. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and friendly to everyone. We crossed paths over the years and in each of those encounters I met the same warm and gentle Betsy. No doubt she had challenges and adversity, pain and changes, like everyone, but she kept that endearing quality of kindness. My deepest sympathies to the family and friends who loved and knew her.
