Hans Schmidt

SCHMIDT, Hans J. of Saginaw Twp., passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at HealthSource of Saginaw. He was 89 years old. Hans Joachim Schmidt was born on June 29, 1927 in Heidelberg, Germany to the late Konstantin and Friedel (Dubac) Schmidt. He married Edda Brigitte Stammberger on September 4, 1965 in Owosso, Michigan. He had been employed by Comerica Bank and Trust of Midland as a Trust Officer. Hans participated in the READ Program and enjoyed helping children learn to read. He had an absolute love of the arts and music, especially Jazz, and was on the board of the Community Concert Association and the First Presbyterian Church Concert Series. Hans was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and sat on several city of Frankenmuth committees over the years. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Edda Brigitte; two daughters: Kristin (Leonard Jr.) Fowler and Andrea (Matthew) Dahline of Howell, MI; four grandchildren: Benjamin and Alexander Fowler and Mathias and Amelia Dahline; and very close cousins, Betty Lou (David) Bradley and Carl Hugo (Franziska) Dubac. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Konstantin "Udi" Schmidt. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Second Presbyterian Church, 2665 Midland Rd, Saginaw MI 48603. Rev. James Neumann will officiate. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
