Elfriede Borenstein

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at HealthSource Saginaw with her friend, Suzanne Zitter by her side. She was 91 years old. Elfriede was born on June 22, 1925 in Vienna, Austria to the late Franz and Anna (Ramp) Tenek. In 1949 in Vienna, Austria she married Alex Borenstein. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2010. Elfriede and Alex moved to Saginaw on December 24, 1950. She retired from Weichmann's Department Store as an office clerk. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church (Court and Bond). Elfriede was a 24 year volunteer with Saginaw General Hospital and also volunteered at the Martin Luther Nursing Home. Elfriede is survived by her niece, Ingeborg (Joseph) Petran of Vienna, Austria; a nephew, Norbert (Elisabeth) Pinter of Reichersdorf, Austria; and her special friend, Suzanne Zitter. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. David Naumann will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
