Elias Ayala

As a kid I remember my Uncle Elias as a big man...He made it a point to puff out his chest and deepen his voice when speaking to you....(Knowledge probably gained from serving in the military.) I am around the same age as Alex and Rachel. I never saw either one of them "get out of line." Frankly, he scared me a little...He was tough but respected. (Ok...He was not as scary as Grandma Ayala but close.) Watching him decline in the last few years must have been difficult for the family. This once colossal man now frail and weak. Some of my best memories as a kid was being at aunt Dee's and uncle Eli's Thanksgiving dinners was the best, aunt Dee making her delicious pies and uncle Eli making sure everyone ate enough. I remember he tricked me one time and said "try this chicken" so I did, and I told him it was good, and he said see, you like frog legs.... I could not believe he did that to me (hahaha) I also remember him always getting on to the boys if they picked on me "hey leave her alone or imma kick your ass" Thanks uncle Eli for always looking out for me you will never be forgotten and you will always hold a special place in my heart. -Andrea (Barajas) Garza
