Maria Riley

Riley, Maria H. (Quiroga) Saginaw Twp., Michigan Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. She was 81 years old. Maria Hernandez was born on August 21, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Manuel and Trinidad (Gallardo) Hernandez. She married Fred R. Quiroga, Sr. in March of 1952. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1974. Maria then married Orville A. Riley, Jr. on August 10, 1985. He survives her. Maria worked for General Motors for 20 years. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Maria was an active volunteer for bingo at the Knights of Columbus. She loved her family and especially enjoyed participating in all of their activities; she also enjoyed traveling. Maria is survived by her husband, Orville A. Riley, Jr.; children: Fred Jr. (Sally) Quiroga, Aurora (Robert) Guzman, Jesse (Pam) Quiroga, Florencio (Joann) Quiroga, Robert (Robin) Quiroga, Sonia (Ernesto) Garcia and Gloria Derige; sons-in-law: Enrique Sanchez and Antonio Rodarte; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild expected in 2017; brother, Antonio (Emily) Hernandez; two sisters: Pauline Garza and Rosie Reyes; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Maria was preceded in death by her daughters: Sylvia Q. Rodarte and Linda Sanchez; two brothers: Manuel Jr. and Richard Hernandez. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will be held for Maria at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw, MI. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie and Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel will co-officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. lead by Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel. Maria will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
