Dennis Ernest

Ernest, Dennis "Denny" of Freeland, Michigan Passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was 70 years old. Dennis John Ernest was born on September 4, 1946 in Monroe, MI to the late Louis and Leona (Hoffman) Ernest. He married Mary Ann Doyle on November 5, 1977 at Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Denny was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church and he enjoyed sharing the love of his Lord with all of those around him. He served on the Board of Elders, Trustees and Ushers. Denny enjoyed flying, and because of his knowledge, he was an excellent Air Traffic Controller at MBS Airport. He also had a passion for tools and was a salesman for Snap-on Tools, for over 25 years. Denny enjoyed "tinkering" in the garage and being the "fix-it man" for all those that knew him. He loved to spend time with his hunting buddies up at camp where he and his brother, Ross built their cabin. He also enjoyed coaching his son in his younger years, boating and traveling with his wife, especially on a special trip to Hawaii. Dennis will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary Ann; son, Adam (Danielle) Ernest; his grand dog, Maddie; brother, Ross (Linda) Ernest; his Godson, Rev. David Ernest; and many special family members and friends. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Denny will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. C. William Weis will officiate. According to Denny's wishes cremation will follow the funeral service. VISITATION: The family will receive friends at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State) on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Denny will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Peace Lutheran Church, Saginaw Rescue Mission or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
