Marilyn Blenkhorn

Marilyn Mae Blenkhorn, age 88, of Pickford, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan, died August 31, 2016, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born May 9, 1928, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Phillip Martin and Catherine (Frantom) Schmidt. Marilyn grew up in Saginaw and graduated from Saginaw High School. She worked at Michigan Bell until she married her high school sweetheart, James Edward Blenkhorn on July 29, 1950. She raised their four children before working for the Saginaw Board of Education for many years. During retirement, she and James lived in Arizona for several winters. She moved to Pickford nine years ago. Marilyn was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church in Saginaw and the United Methodist Church in Pickford. She was also an active member of PEO in Saginaw. Marilyn volunteered with special needs children. She enjoyed golfing, playing Bridge, and traveling. She was an avid sports fan. Marilyn is survived by her children: Kathryn Ann (David) Wilcox of Interlochen, Michigan, Martin Carl (Karen) Blenkhorn of Pickford, David James (Leah) Blenkhorn of Saginaw, and Thomas Edward (Beth Ann) Blenkhorn of Frankenmuth Michigan; eight grandchildren: Aric (Holly) Wilcox, Casey (Stacy) Blenkhorn, Sarah (Drew) Mucci, Emily (Mic "Nick") Darling, Alisha (Scott) Cygan, Mason (Becca) Blenkhorn, Jaymes Blenkhorn, and Morgan Blenkhorn; nine great grandchildren: Anna and Jude Blenkhorn, Sienna and Maggie Wilcox, Madee and Macee Darling, and Luca, Rocco, and Ellie Mucci; and one brother, Thomas (Marcia) Schmidt of Saginaw. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Blenkhorn, and grandson, Adam Blenkhorn. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Rev. Timothy Bashore will officiate. Private entombment will follow at Oakwood Mausoleum.
