Frank Vaughan

VAUGHAN, Frank R. of Saginaw Twp., Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Cartwright Hospice Residence, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old. Frank Ronald Vaughan was born on August 31, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Ronald and Charlotte (Heinlein) Vaughan. He married Virginia "Ginnie" L. Skelton on January 13, 1951; she survives him. Frank graduated from Saginaw High School with the Class of 1949. After high school, he worked for the family business, Heinlein Awning, which he would later become the third generation owner. In November 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served during the Korean War, earned the rank of Sergeant, and specialized in artillery. After his honorable discharge, Frank would continue his work for the family business until his retirement at the age of 75. Frank and Ginnie were members of the Jaycee's, Fordney Club, Elks Club, Germania Town and Country Club, Saginaw Club, and the Saginaw Country Club. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed cooking, golfing, and home decorating; he also truly appreciated fine cars. Frank loved nothing more than his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Ginnie; three daughters and one son: Deborah (Douglas) Stone, Kip (Cherie) Vaughan, Renee (Brad) Schafer, Michelle "Shelly" Vaughan; eight grandchildren: Melissa (Tyler), Lacey (Aldo), Kelli (Brian), Ashley (Jim), Scott (Lisa), Treavor (Kelly), Tony, and Ryan; and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Julie Cuomo. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son. MEMORIAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Dr. Rev. Robert L. Emrich will officiate. Private inurnment of cremated remains will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, at a later date.
