Donna King

KING, Donna M. of Saginaw, MI passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. She was 85 years old. Donna Marilyn Smith was born in Saginaw on February 15, 1931 to the late Charles and Vivian (Hunt) Smith. She met the love of her life, Lauren H. "Larry" King, while enjoying music and dancing the Jitterbug. They married on August 21, 1948, he passed away on September 26, 2011. Donna worked as an Event Coordinator for Germania Town and Country for over 20 years. She enjoyed shopping and fashion, also taking great pride in decorating her home. Larry and Donna traveled together throughout Europe including: Venice, Italy, Belgium, France, and the place where the Sound of Music was filmed. They also enjoyed many family trips and a special cruise together. Donna will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren for her kindness and charm. She was blessed to find many compassionate friends in a support group following the death of her husband, Larry. Their encouragement will forever be cherished. Donna is survived by her children: Richard (Robin) King, Marc (Wendy) King and Cynthia (Doug) Harbert; grandchildren: Brandon King, Amanda King, and her husband, Michael Krzeszewski, Austin King, Chance King, Brittany House, Cory House, Cooper and Beckam Harbert; and her sister, Betty. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister, Daphne Foley. Donna's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Covenant Hospital, Cartwright Hospice Residence and Jim and Denise Henris for their compassion and care during Donna's illness. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service for Donna will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Burial will be held privately in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
