To Dad, You weren't a father because you HAD to be, you CHOSE to be. Oh, how I wish you were here so that my boys could experience the love and laughter you brought to me. I listened to Skid Row and Warrant last night. I had found some of your old cassettes last time I was at Mom's. I confiscated them and wore the ribbon out. I'll always talk about you and my kids will KNOW you. I'd like to think you can hear me, that you know how much I miss you and I regret not getting myself down to Michigan when I had the chance. I think as people we tend to think that we have plenty of time. It often leads us to kîss out on the important moments. Remember that big blue truck? You used to have to lift me up and put me in it. Remember the first cassette you bought me? Paula Abdul- Shut up and dance. Remember when you used to play basketball? You'd lift me up so I could slam dunk it? You'd cheer, ''the Detroit Pistons win again!' As a tooth fairy- you'd overspend on teeth purchases. Five bucks in the 80's- I was rich! You know that WALKMAN you gave me? Can you believe they now cost 200 bucks online?!?!? Do you remember my relentless pleas for you to make me a little brother? How i was velcro, stuck to you! I used to pretend to fall asleep in the living room. I did that so you would pick me up, carry me bed and tuck me in. Five minutes later, crawl back out, 'I'm not sleepy', curl up- close my eyes and this would go on all night. Mom would cook breakfast- eat this, fish and rice. Eat. eat! Its good for you! Why you no about a want to eat? You'd furl that eyebrow and serve up some bacon. There's so much I want to tell you. Over the next years, there will be even more. I feel cheated. It isn't fair but whoever said life was? During my teen years, I desperately longed to find you. Everybody gave up on me. Nobody wanted me and I KNEW you would never have turned your back on me. I was so angry at my mom for many years. It was unfair that 'we' never had a say. How dare she decide for me? Decide for you if you could be in my life? Who was she to sever a bond? I couldn't believe I found you again! I couldn't believe you remembered me! To get that first phone call, to hear you cry, 'STRING BEAN! I MISSED YOU!' you haven't a clue how brightly my heart lit up. I lost more than a dad, i lost a friend. I love you. I'm hurting. I MISS YOU!

Andria, I am so very sorry to hear about James. My heart breaks for you during this difficult time. Jamie lived his own life and to its fullest. He was his own man and there is a lot to be said for that. Nothing kept him down. You were the bestest sister that he could have ever asked for. Jamie knew that. :) May God comfort you and carry you through these difficult times. Again, I am so sorry for you loss. ~Jody
