Obituary
CARROLL, Ruth E. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Hoyt Nursing Home & Rehab Centre on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the age of 89. Ruth E. Jesse was born November 11, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to the late August and Alberta (Netz) Jesse. She married Charles William Carroll on August 3, 1946; he preceded her in death on May 30, 1965. Ruthie was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for over 54 years. She enjoyed actively volunteering with the church where she baked pies and jams for the bazaar, counted donated funds, as well as decorated for Christmas and many other church events. Ruthie loved and cherished her family, but her greatest joy was her beloved grandchildren. She was proud to be able to watch their many sporting events and other various extracurricular activities. Surviving are her two sons and her daughter: Gloria (William) Sebold, Bob Carroll and Tina Parks, and Dick (Joni) Carroll; grandchildren: Todd (Nancy) Sebold, Tonya Sebold, J.P. Carroll, Andy (Allison) Carroll, Matt (Stephanie) Carroll, Shannon (Tim) Cohen, Shelby (Vinko) Kovac, and Brittany Koch; great-grandchildren: Cole and Cody Cohen, Mila and Teo Kovac, Kaylee Carroll and Tyler Sebold; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter-in-law, Sharon Carroll; two brothers, August Jesse Jr. and Richard Jesse; sister, Rita Nagle; brother-in-law, Eugene Carroll; sisters-in-law, Thelma Beatty and Ruth Defore. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service for Ruthie will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 4, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Rd, 48638. Rev. Dr. Robert Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, March 3, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. On Friday morning, Ruthie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church-Organ Fund. Ruth Carroll made Christmas cookies every year.She would call me up and say Keith come and get your cookies. They were so good.I will miss her cookies but I will miss her more.God bless you Ruthie

As a little kid, I remember begging my Mom to get in Ruthie's checkout line in Krogers because she always had a bowl of suckers at her register. When I joined Good Shepherd 20 yrs ago, there she was, and the first person to reach out to welcome me and get me involved in the church. She was a special part of my life much longer than she realized. Rest in peace, Ruthie.

Mrs. C. was an institution in the neighborhood when we were growing up. I enjoyed spending a lot of time at her house with Dick and other friends from the subdivision. I always liked her and had fun with her, as a kid and also in the later years. She will be missed.
