Loraine Murphy

Murphy, Loraine E. "Laurie" Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre. She was 89 years old. Loraine E. Schulz was born on January 14, 1926 to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Faith) Schulz. She was married to William P. Murphy, Jr. on September 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1994. Laurie graduated from Bay City Junior College in 1946. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Laurie served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. She also assisted her husband with Boy Scout Troop #49, Carrollton, MI. Laurie served as a volunteer at the Saginaw Career Complex and previously at Good Neighbors Mission, she was also a long time member of AlAnon. One of Laurie's favorite hobbies was collecting antiques and working in her large garden. Laurie is survived by her son, Michael W. (Cathy) Murphy of Clare; son-in-law, Doug Wilson of Lincoln; two grandchildren: Craig Wilson of Mackinaw City and Carolyn (Bo) Parker of Mt. Pleasant; two step grandchildren: Jennifer (Scott) Braginton of Spring Lake and Ernie, III (Melissa) Krygier of Bay City. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patrice Wilson; brother, Homer (Aldean) Schulz. FUNERAL: A funeral for Loraine will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Ronald F. Wagner will officiate. Private burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
