Margaret Lewis

LEWIS, Margaret B. of Saginaw, Michigan, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Healthsource - Saginaw with her family by her side. She was 93 years old. Margaret Barbara Gerger was born on August 22, 1922 in Munger, Michigan to the late John and Elizabeth (Probst) Gerger. She married Leon Lammers Lewis in 1941; he preceded her in death in 1981. Margaret enjoyed her job interacting with kids and staff at the Saginaw Public Schools for over 20 years. Also, well into her 80s, she loved helping out at her daughter's store, Mary's Creative Cakery. She was a long-time member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed working and playing Bingo, puzzles, and crocheting. Margaret stayed active with her walking and was always on the go. She loved nothing more than family functions and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Joyce Potter, Richard Lewis, Mary Lesh, Gary (Julie) Lewis; seven grandchildren, Trina (Terry), Traci (Bill), Patrick, Tom Jr. (Jenny), Jason, Kelly, Jeremy (fiancée, Renee); five great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Doyle; and sister-in-law, Edwina "Winnie" Gerger. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years, Leon; several siblings; son-in-law, Roger Potter. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Dominic Parish - Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church site, 4735 W. Michigan Ave., 48638. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at a later date in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
