Robert Muessig

Robert J. "Bob" Muessig of Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015. He was 84 years old. Robert James Muessig was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 21, 1931, the son of the late Frank Joseph and Frieda Anna (Strobel) Muessig. Bob graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1949. Bob then proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. Following his service, he then furthered his education at the University of Michigan. Bob and Barbara (Marshall) were married on November 26, 1957, together they had three children, Marta, Mark and Matthew. Bob worked for Dow Chemical and then the Chemical Financial Corporation, retiring in 1993. He loved to golf, play poker, take walks and enjoy a beer with a friend. Robert married Connie Jean (Woodman) Zill on June 21, 2002 in Saginaw, she preceded him in death on June 1, 2015. Bob is survived by his daughter: Marta Muessig (Erich Mueller), and her children: Anna Scholten (Joel Schwamberger) and Nick Scholten; son, Mark Muessig (Trish Dion), and his children: Taylor Muessig Hodson (Hayden Boensch) and Max Muessig; son: Matthew Muessig. Bob is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Muessig; step-children: Christina Zill, Todd Zill and Penny (Jeffrey) Meacham; also grandchildren: Jasson Wardin, Trisha (Jim) Knezek, Shane Ruyts (Shawna Fedewa), Sarah Delong (Shawn Carpenter), Adam Zill, Samantha (Jon) Ratski, Miranda (Brian) Weidman and Nicholas Meacham (Kelsey Groom); four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice (Johnson) Muessig; cousin, Marie Strobel Wells and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, William Muessig; step-son, David Zill. MEMORIAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Military Honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army and V.F.W. Post #1859 will immediately follow the memorial service. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
