Obituary
Meshinchi, Dr. Parviz of Saginaw, Michigan Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 15, 2015. He was 85 years old. Dr. Parviz Meshinchi was born on June 11, 1930 in Bandar Pahlavi, Iran to the late Imran and Tahirih Meshinchi. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Tehran. He was an officer in the health corps working on eradication of Malaria in southern Iran. He married Najmieh Panahi on June 16, 1960 in Tabriz, Iran. She survives him. Parviz was the chairman of Dept. of agriculture in the province of Azerbaijan until he moved to the US in 1980 and worked in a veterinary clinic in Ann Arbor from 1981 until his retirement in 2000. Parviz was an active member of the Bahai Faith, the largest religious minority in Iran and was a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Tabriz who survived the targeted execution of the Baha'is in the 1980s in Iran. He greatly valued higher education and encouraged his family and friends to pursue advanced degrees. He was well known for his spirit of generosity and warm and welcoming hospitality among all that met him. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed Persian literature and reciting Persian poetry and chanting Baha'i prayers. He was an avid backgammon player. Parviz is survived by his wife, Najmieh; daughter, Dr. Sussan Bays of Saginaw, MI and her husband, Dr. Ronald Bays and their children: Iman, Cameron and Braydon; son, Dr. Soheil Meshinchi of Seattle, WA and his wife, Dr. Beth Ebel and their children: Sophia, Elena and Connor; daughter, Dr. Sepideh Taghizadeh of Minneapolis, MN and her husband, Ehssan Taghizadeh and their children: Kassra and Leyla; sister, Bahieh Khanum Meshinchi, her husband Manoochehr Meshinchi and their sons Sasha and Parsha Meshinchi. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Parviz will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. He was one of the first locals that I came in contact with when as a first year student in Tabriz.. He was very kind. He welcomed me. I will never forget his kindness and his warmth.. So sad to hear this news.. I am sure he is in a better place.. God bless his pure and kind soul..
