Passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. He was 85 years old. Gordon Francis Johnson was born on June 5, 1930 in Mackinaw City, MI to the late Roy and Hazel (Bond) Johnson. He graduated from Mesick High School, the Class of 1949. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, along with five of his brothers. Gordon met the love of his live, Doris Elaine Still in Bay City and they were married on April 6, 1952. She survives him. He worked for 7-UP, and then American Greetings for 28 years traveling the Eastern part of Michigan. Gordon was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving in many different ministries within the church. Gordon will be deeply missed by his wife, Doris; children: Pam (Doug) Bird, Chuck (Jan) Johnson, Kathy (Pat) Maday and Greg Johnson; 10 grandchildren: Justin (Erin) Bird, MacKenzie Bird, Megan and Katie Johnson, Ashley (Jason) Persails, Sarah (James) Lamb and Rachel Maday, Daniel Richmond, Brad and Mark Johnson; seven great grandchildren: Kadence and Clayton Keller, Wyatt, Hudson, Rylie and Dylan Persails and Lucas Lamb; sister, Margaret (Richard) Younk; sisters-in-law, Grace and Vicky Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Waneta Desonia; brothers: Irwin, Laverne, Forrest, Darwin, Arden and Robert Johnson. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Gordon will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave., Saginaw. Pastor C. Wm. Weis will officiate. Burial and Military honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Gordon will lie in state at the church on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Peace Lutheran Church or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. My childhood memories of Uncle Gordon are of his beautiful dogs, swimming with all the kids and looking forward to seeing the whole family at Grandma and Grandpa Still's home or at the lake for family reunions. He always either took us for rides on the dirt bikes or let his boys take us.
As I grew up, moved away and had children of my own, I was so pleased at the effort Uncle Gordon and Aunt Doris would make to see me (and later my family). They always made me feel special.
Uncle Gordon, I'll always remember your smile, laugh, jokes and stories.

I want to honor the life of Gordon. I remember as a child that Gordon faithfully stopped by to visit my grandparents, H.F. and Ione (Bond) Kenney. As an adult I was blessed to have many different occasions to be with Gordon and Doris. They were always kind and so great to visit with. Blessings to Doris, the kids, and grandkids.
