BROGGER, Adele L. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Hidden Creek Adult Foster Care, Hartland, MI. She was 97 years old. Adele LaVerne Griffore was born on January 27, 1918 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Thomas and Tillie (DeCaire) Griffore. She married Anthony A. "Tony" Brogger on May 17, 1941; he preceded her in death on their 63rd anniversary, May 17, 2004. Adele graduated from St. Andrew's Catholic High School with the Class of 1936. She worked for the Saginaw News, writing for the society page and later, she was office manager for Glamour Inc. Further, she was often in plays at Pit & Balcony Theatre, volunteered for the PTO at St. Peter & Paul Catholic School, she taught Home Economics classes how to model their creations, and did the makeup for the high school plays. For St. Stephen Catholic Church, she taught second grade religious education and brought communion for the home-bound. Adele was also a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital gift shop. In her spare time, she was an avid golfer and a member at Maple Hill Golf Club. Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Anthony P. (Mary), Missy (Tom) Finelli, Mary Beth (Stephen) Digsby, Thomas (Sandi), and Amy (Ron) Aldrich; 14 grandchildren: Heidi Brogger, Tony F. Brogger, Tom (Helen) Finelli, Chris (Niki) Finelli, Matt (Christina) Finelli, Addie (Joey) Iding, Melissa (Jerry) McGrain, Sarah (Mike) Ascherl, Martha (Shaun) Houck, Stephen (Katie) Digsby, Jenny (Steve) Foley, Hannah (Kyle) Sanderson, Alex Aldrich, and Lauren Aldrich; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dolly Brogger; sister-in-law, Bonnie Griffore; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Adele was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony and nine brothers and sisters. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 300 Johnson Street, Freeland 48623. Rev. Fr. Robert Deland will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Friday night, a vigil service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Adele will lie in state at the church Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time at Mass. In spite of how we age, it's amazing to me that we never lose sight of who someone is, in the person they have become.
I have heard, that in life, if we could only treat others with the respect, dignity and honor they deserve, that our world would be a better place. Well, from what I have heard about, read about and experienced in taking part in caring for Adele for the past 3 1/2 years of her life, I Know, that I can speak for myself and everyone who had the privilege of caring for her...that she truly was an example of those teachings in life. Everyone at Hidden Creek will truly miss Adele Brogger and her wonderful family.

Aunt Adele was a tremendously important figure in my growing up years. I spend hours at the Brogger house with Missy and Mary Beth throughout grade school and Aunt Adele was always there to extend love and caring to me as her niece. Adele was my Confirmation sponsor (and Uncle Tony my godfather at Baptism). As the years progressed, of course time and distance caused those interactions to wane, but never took her out of my heart and memories. I thank you, Aunt Adele, for your nurturing during those very precious years. And love to all my cousins who are truly missed, so far away.

I have met Mr & Mrs Brogger a couple of times when I was visiting the US with my parents. My Mom, Gret Duijndam, has lived with the Broggers when she was a student and has ever since kept close contact and told us about the great time she had in America. I remember our first visit back in 1995 with Mom, Dad and my brother Tom. We stayed in Saginaw with Mr & Mrs Brogger. They gave us such a kind and loving welcome. It felt very special to see where my Mom had lived for over a year and to meet 'Mom and Dad Brogger' as she always called them. We met a lot of members of the Brogger family and everywhere we were welcomed so very kindly. A couple of years later I was able to return with my Mom. We were included in a beautiful wedding ceremony and saw how proud Mr & Mrs Brogger were of all their children and grandchildren. It felt special to be a part of it! When we heard of the passing away of Mr Brogger I felt really sad, especially for Mrs Brogger, they were such a sweet couple. My Mom received a Christmas Card every year in which she was being updated about all the family business. Mrs Brogger was always so enthusiastic and sincerely interested in our lives and well being. I have very fond memories of her and admired her loving care for everyone around her. It was an honour meeting you Mrs Brogger, you will never be forgotten! Love, Kristel Dekkers
