Powell, Warren J. of Houghton Lake, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Monday, August 31, 2015. He was 68 years old. Warren J. Powell was born on December 25, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan to Jerome Warren and Ruth Irene (Miller) Powell. He married Jacqueline M. Kempf on February 2, 1973; she survives him. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear Plant 2, retiring after over 30 years of service. Warren was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3201 and UAW Local 699. He was a classic car enthusiast. Warren enjoyed reading and bird watching, as well as playing golf, horseshoes and shuffle board. Above all, he loved and cherished his family and friends. Surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years, Jacqueline Powell of Houghton Lake; one son and two daughters: Lisa M. (James "Oz") Osgood of Kingsley, Shaan W. (Stephanie) Powell of Midland, and Bree A. Powell and her significant other, Scott Peters of Mancelona; mother, Ruth Powell of Clare; seven grandchildren: Erica, Alexandria, Kathleen, Rachel, Lisa, Evan and Marrisa; three great-grandsons; two brothers and one sister: Rox (Marcia), Kurt (Jane) and Suzy (Ralph); and two brothers-in-law: Bill (Andrea) and Tim (Linda). He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Warren Powell, and brother, Vance Powell. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State), Saginaw, Michigan. Pastor Charlie Green will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. Although I cannot be there for the service, I will be there with you all in spirit. "Big Daddy Warren" was beloved by us all! I spent a lot of time at the house growing up and was privileged to have him at many important events throughout my life. I plan on riding to MI this weekend to visit his final resting place and say my goodbyes in person. God made him an angel for he now has wings to watch over us all. My love to the entire Powell family. Xoxos

Warren was always a nice sociable guy. First time I met him he started talking to me like he had known me forever. That was impressive to me. Everyone loved him for his warm kind demeanor. He will be missed greatly.
