Gerry Norton

Norton, Gerry of Saginaw, Michigan formerly of Laingsburg Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper; with her family by her side. She was 95 years old. Gerry Walper was born on October 26, 1919 in Detroit to the late Gordon and Clara (Freiday) Walper. She grew up and lived in Huntington Woods, Mi. Gerry was a proud graduate of Royal Oak High School. She married the love of her life and soulmate, Royce E. Norton on August 24, 1944; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2011. Gerry was gifted and talented in drawing; mastering portraits and still life. She also enjoyed gardening, her dogs, and their home on Lake Victoria. Above all she loved and cherished her family and friends. She was of the United Methodist Faith. Surviving are two daughters: Toni (Jim) Birney of Camarillo, CA, Denise (Bob) Kin of Saginaw; a daughter-in-law, Judy Norton; eight grandchildren: Kelly (Mark) Polizzi, Michelle Park, Sarah (Jordon) Munoz, Anna (John) Tyrrell, Sharon (Charles) Lawrence, Emily (Mark) Bontrager, Samuel (Carrie) Norton, Katie (Bryan) Spalla, and Daniel (Kimberly); 18 great-grandchildren; sister, June Mattingly of Portage. She was preceded in death by a son, Chris Norton; one brother, Duane Walper. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Kathryn Snedeker will officiate. Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
