Gardey, Robert "Rob" Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab. He was 83 years old. Robert R. Gardey was born on April 21, 1932 to the late Julius and Irma (Reinbold) Gardey. Rob proudly served with the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed being self employed as a painter. Rob was also a faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, and he enjoyed golfing and building golf clubs. Rob is survived by his brother, Don J. (Laurel) Gardey of Roscommon, MI; niece, Kirsten (Craig) Parks and their children: Nicholas and Cole Parks of Bay City, MI; nephew, Eric (Margo) Gardey and their children: Meredith and Parker Gardey of Glenwood Springs, CO; cousins: Kim (Barbara) Gardey of Saginaw, MI, Kay (John) Vandenburg, Mike (Vickie) Reinbold, Melvin (Pat) Reinbold, Wayne (Julie) Reinbold, Margaret (James) VanPatten, Sharon (Glen) Gehrke, Sandy (Terry) Lynes, Susan (Harold) Schroeder, Viola (Edward) Kern, Lou Gardey and Josie Reinbold. Rob is also survived by his extended family: David (Rosemary) Gardey and their children: Catherine, Victoria, George and Elizabeth of Gross Pointe Farms, MI, and Jonathon (Cheryl) Gardey and their children: James, Lucia, Jacob and Alexis of Freeland, MI. Rob was preceded in death by his cousins: Jon Gardey, Mary Lee (Robert) Anderson, John Reinbold, Vern Reinbold and Stella (Harold) Keinath. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service will be held for Rob at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N. Miller Road, Saginaw. Pastor Bob Allmann will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. According to Rob's wishes cremation has taken place. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Humane Society of Midland, P.O. In his day, Rob was that cheerful, adventuresome, and somewhat irresponsible guy that us younger men envied and the girls all loved. . In his later years, he was one of the half dozen friends I hoped to tie in with on my occasional trips to Michigan. I think of him every time I pull out one of his irons from my golf bag.
