Maureen Sharkey

Sharkey, Maureen K. of Saginaw, Michigan, Passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at her home with her devoted husband by her side. She was 66 years old. Maureen K. Neath was born on August 2, 1948 in Saginaw to the late Howard L. and Ruth (Jones) Neath. She married the love of her life, Dale E. Sharkey on January 18, 1974; he survives her. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, baking brownies and going for rides to get ice cream cones. Maureen was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing her meals with family and friends. Above all, Maureen loved and cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Maureen will forever be remembered for her kind and loving spirit. Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Dale E. Sharkey of Saginaw; two daughters and one son: Melissa (Moore) Sprague of Saginaw, Brad (Jennifer) Moore of Midland, and Melanie (Sharkey) (Brad) Friemoth of Perrysburg, OH; seven grandchildren: Brandon Powlus, Hunter Dreffs, RaeAnn Sprague, Jordyn Moore, Chloe Friemoth, Lauren Sprague, and Macy Friemoth; three brothers and one sister: Mary (Dave) Genske, Mike (Becky) Neath, Jamie Cushman and his significant other, MaryAnn Goodwin, and Scott Cushman; mother-in-law, Betty Sharkey; and a brother-in-law, Don Sharkey of Saginaw; her furry baby girl, Mindy; special friends: Lucille Brooks, Lyonel Moore, and Sue and Eric Day. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Dennis Sprague, Jr., sister, Sue Collins; father-in-law, Louis Sharkey; and a step-father, Jim Cushman. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:30 until the time of the service.
