Obituary
Howard L. Ackerman of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at his home. He was 87 years old. Howard Leo Ackerman was born on June 25, 1927 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Frank and Loretta May (Compeau) Ackerman. He has been married to Anita Norma DeAgostino for many years; she survives him. Howard graduated from Saginaw High School with the Class of 1944. He then served in the United States Army at end of World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended Indiana Tech, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Howard began his career with the City of Saginaw and pursued his career with several private architecture firms. After retirement, he continued to consult on many architecture projects. In his spare time, he enjoyed the cottage on Hubbard Lake and his pride and joy, a 1952 Chris-Craft boat. Howard will be remembered for his ability to design, build, and fix just about anything, as well as his devoted care to his wife. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anita; two daughters: Norma (Ashish) Sarkar and Michelle Pickering; five grandchildren: Alicia, Monica, and Jay Sarkar and Stephanie and Geena Pickering; brother, Russell (Kay) Ackerman; sister, Kathy Boland; nephew, Bryan (Lori Marie) Ackerman; and niece, Katrina (John) Olson. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Franklin and Eugene. FUNERAL: Funeral Service will take place at 12:00noon on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Walter David will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., as well as on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
