Eli Dater

Dater, Eli of Bay City, Michigan formerly of Saginaw Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Sheffield Place in Bay City with his family by his side. He was 91 years old. Eli Dater was born on September 11, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to the late, Abraham and Sarah (Neumann) Dater. He married the love of his life, Lucille "Lucy" Diment on July 24, 1943; she survives him. Eli honorably served his country with the United States Army during World War II. As an 11-year-old, Eli began working for the family business, Dater's Auto Supply, retiring in 1996 as owner and operator. He was of the Jewish faith and a longtime member of the Temple B'nai Israel in Saginaw. Throughout his life Eli enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a very kind man, well-liked and admired by all. He will be forever remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Above all, Eli loved and cherished his family. Surviving are his beloved wife of 71 years, Lucille "Lucy" Dater of Bay City; daughter, Barbara (Charles) Card of Midland; five grandchildren: Christine (Wade) Miller of Ovid, Charles (Kathy) Card of Bay City, Melissa (Steve) Coleman of Bay City, Benjamin Card of Midland, and Sara (Matthew) Lynch of Kawkawlin; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews in California. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Lukas Lynch. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rabbi Karen Companez officiated. Entombment followed at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
