Obituary
Went to her Heavenly home where she was reunited with her husband, Jack and family on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Covenant HealthCare- Cooper. She was surrounded by her family. Gloria D. Garchow was born on September 10, 1922 in Saginaw, to the late John Paul Carl and Regina Caroline Louise (Schultz) Garchow. She was a 1940 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. She married the love of her life, Jack Hudson Becker on May 6, 1945 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church; he preceded her in death on June 3, 2013, following 67 years of marriage. Gloria worked at Michigan Bell as a service representative. From 1976 to 1983, she owned and operated "The Trading Post" on the corner of Mackinaw and Gratiot. Gloria and Jack were both charter members of Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. She was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church and very active within their community. Above all, Gloria loved and cherished her family, as well as the 47 years she and Jack enjoyed at Higgins Lake. Left to cherish her memory are three children: Gloria (Bruce) Rueber, Liberty, IN, David H. Becker of Salt Lake City, UT, and Cynthia (Scott) Lutz of Saginaw; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Beth (Hiram) Becker. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Kenneth Eugene Garchow, John Herbert Garchow and Jane F. Lily. FUNERAL: A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams St., Saginaw. Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate. Honoring Gloria's wishes cremation will follow the service with burial to take place at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Peace Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. I had many conversations with Mrs. Becker over the years, Whether I chatted for a few minutes @ her door since she was the last cottage on my left before I got to the lake or in sitting @ the end of the dock . When I was up there for any extended time period our chats would be almost daily. She was a lovely human being! A gentle soul, but yet had lots of wisdom. She was genuine in her care & concern when you spoke with her in conversation & never had a ill word to say about anyone. She never complained! She will be greatly missed! Gloria, we will miss seeing you at Saginaw Geriatrics. We have an oldies concert planned there in March and we'll miss seeing you. Handy Andy will miss sitting next to you!

very thankful to GOD that I had the pleasure to know Mr. Jack and his bride Mrs. Gloria. Having met them at the Saginaw Geriatrics, we had some wonderful chats. We would mostly talk about GOD and the bible.Mr. Jack always expressed his amazement about things in the Holy bible , and Mrs. Gloria had such a great memory of the stories in the Bible , I learned alot from the both of them!!
