David Garrison

David "Dave" J. Garrison of Bedford, Kentucky, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was 66 years old. David John Garrison was born on May 13, 1948 in Saginaw, Michigan to Robert and Donna Marie (Hirschman) Garrison. He married Catherine Lamblin on December 23, 1967; she survives him. Dave graduated from Arthur Hill High School. Later, he would retire from Bechtel Group in 2010, but remained a member of the UA Local 85. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed traveling, camping and racing. In his travels, he visited 46 of the 50 states, Florida being their favorite family vacation spot. He was very passionate about racing. When he lived in Michigan, he raced at the local tracks, Dixie and Tri City, driving stock cars, and he worked on several friends and family member's race cars. In 1987, he was chief mechanic for Don Krietz Jr. in the Nascar Busch Series. In 2010 and 2011, he was the Gary Jacob Memorial Super Fan Award winner, attending 152 races in 2010 and 156 races in 2011. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Catherine; father, Robert Howard Garrison and special friend, Carolyn Thom; son, Robert (Katherine) Garrison; daughter, Carrie (Paul) Doman; four grandchildren; Amanda, Jessica, Trent, and Gwen; two brothers: James (Deborah) Garrison and Ralph (Andrea) Garrison; sister, Lenette (John) Ferguson; and two special cousins: Melisa Thom Brown and Thomas Thom. Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Donna and sister-in-law, Susan (Palmer) Garrison. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Avenue. Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State)on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., as well as on Friday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
