David Alcorn

ALCORN, David "Dave" L. of James Township, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 76 years old. David Larry Alcorn was born on September 27, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Alvin and Gertrude (Ludlum) Alcorn. He married Patricia J. Sands on June 11, 1960; she survives him. Dave graduated from Saginaw High School with the Class of 1956. In January 1995, Dave retired from Steering Gear, Plant 7, after 30 years of service. He was a member of the UAW #699, American Association of Woodturners, National Rifle Association, Saginaw Strokers Car Club, and the National Street Rod Association. He enjoyed golf, photography, and woodturning. Further, Dave organized the Saginaw Carl Casper Auto Shows. In his spare time, he took care of everyone, even if he had to learn the task first. Dave was affectionately known as "Homie," had the patience of a saint, and the heart of a giant. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Pat; son, Brad (Denise) Alcorn; daughter, Gretchen (Scott) Newman; five grandchildren: Kelly, Ashley, Nicholas (Christal), Daniel, and Becca; three great-grandchildren: Addison, Wyatt, and Hunter; and extended family members and many friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their dear neighborhood friends. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., as well as on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
