Obituary

KLEEKAMP, Lois E. (Schmidt) of Saginaw, MI passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Cartwright Hospice Residence. Lois E. Schmidt was born in Saginaw to the late Alexander and Alma (Wagner) Schmidt. Lois married William (Bill) Kleekamp on February 7, 1959. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2003. Lois was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Saginaw. She enjoyed time spent with the children and staff of Arthur Hill High School working in the cafeteria. Lois is survived by her brothers: Robert (Myrtle) Schmidt, Milton (Colleen) Schmidt, Edwin (Joyce) Schmidt, Larry (Margaret) Schmidt and Gary Schmidt; many nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Thomas Bird. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister-in-law, Vicki Schmidt. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Lois will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4705 Brockway, Saginaw. Rev. Daniel Garbow will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Garden. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State). Lois will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. My Aunt Lois was a very special person, one who meant a lot to me, in many ways. After my Uncle Bill's death we became much closer, and after my Mother's death, closer still. A visit with Lois was always one of the things I looked forward to the most on trips back to Saginaw. We would eat lunch, visit Bill's grave, talk at her house or hang with friends at her and Bill's favorite place. I'm going to miss that! One visit, many years ago, was a favorite. I brought my son Bill back for a Christmas visit and we sung songs around a campfire built at Lathrup Park. We talked about that cold night often. How much fun it was and his "doggy" hat. My son will remember it for the rest of his life. My Aunt was a proper lady. Spotless house, always nicely dressed, no curse words allowed, and she told it like it is. Refreshing that way.
